Enlighten is the laser system for gentle, effective and quick improvement and reduction in the appearance of pigmentation. Enlighten treatments will make your skin appear lighter, brighter, and more even. The brown spots on your skin and uneven skin tone are a result of excess melanin occurring in our skin. When the laser light from Enlighten is used to treat the brown spots, the melanin absorbs the laser light causing it to break into tiny particles which are then removed by the body. A series of two to three Enlighten session treatments are recommended to achieve an optimal outcome, and on-going maintenance treatments are encouraged to sustain results over time.
Enlighten is a suitable treatment for the face, hands and other areas of the body with noticeable signs of sun damage and pigmentation. Most patients do not find the treatment uncomfortable. A topical anaesthetic is usually applied onto the treatment area, so the entire procedure is almost pain-free.
Most patients experience mild redness and swelling immediately following the treatment. These side effects are temporary and usually resolve in several hours. In a few days, the pigment will appear darker. This is also temporary and is a sign the treatment is working. The darker spots will appear to flake off over a few days.
